What happens when you sign up
Setup has three steps: connect a website, wait for the crawl, then copy your embed code. There’s no configuration to get through first. If you don’t have a website ready yet, you can skip straight to the dashboard and add one later.
Step 1: connect your website
Enter your website’s URL. SiteMind creates a record for it and queues a crawl. This first domain becomes your workspace’s primary website, the one your chat widget is attached to (see Adding a website for how additional domains work).
Step 2: the crawl runs
SiteMind fetches your pages, reads the visible content, and breaks it into chunks it can search later. Progress updates live: queued, then crawling, then ready. Small sites finish in well under a minute; larger ones take longer since every page is read in turn, politely, without hammering your server.
If your site is a single-page app that renders its content with JavaScript, the crawler may only see an empty shell. You’ll get a plain warning about this rather than a silent gap in your knowledge base. See Troubleshooting for what to do about it.
Step 3: install the widget
Once the crawl finishes, you’ll see one script tag. Paste it before the closing `</body>` tag on your site and the chat widget appears. That’s the entire install, no build step, no package to add. Full details, including platform-specific instructions, are in Installing the widget.
What the assistant can answer right away
As soon as your site is indexed, the assistant can answer questions using only what it found on your pages. It won’t guess at prices, policies, or anything it wasn’t given. If a visitor asks something outside what was crawled, it says it doesn’t know instead of making something up. You can broaden what it knows by uploading documents or adding entries by hand. See Knowledge sources.
